Maternity clothes for teenagers?

So, Forever XXI is selling maternity clothes... What's the big deal? Well, in case you live in a cave, Forever XXI sells trendy, low-end fashion for teens. I think it's great that women and teens can have trendy fashions at a low cost - especially since most trends are just that, trends...

The problem with Forever XXI selling maternity clothes is that they market toward teens. Originally, marketed only toward female teens, Forever XXI has branched out in the past couple of years to incorporate male-teen clothing and children. Now, they are incorporating maternity clothes.

Many are outraged that a well-known teen store is selling maternity clothing. The store insists they are not encouraging teen pregnancy, and most of their customers are over 18 - per a broadcast on ABC 13 Houston.

My opinion will lie in how they market it. Just like I believe teens should have access to fashion at a good price, so should pregnant women! I'm not pregnant, and don't see it anytime soon, but cute maternity clothes aren't cheap. And just like you can't wear trends for too long, you can only wear maternity clothes for a few months! So, I think it's great that once again, Forever XXI is providing trendy clothes at a low price-point.

However, if they are marketing to teens, what does that say? Does it make teens think it's more OK to get pregnant? Does it make it more glamourous? I think, if nothing else, it does make it less inconvenient, if you will. More than anything, it makes me sad that teenage pregnancy is so common that it's come to this.

And, if they don't market to teens, does the pure fact that it's at Forever XXI give the OK to teens?

Again, it does in part have to do with the marketing. Are teens modeling? From the pics I saw, the models look like maked-up teens. Is Forever XXI marketing maternity to teens? That is yet to be seen...

In the end, it's the world. It's the sad world we live in. LIVE IN. We are called to be in the world, but not of it. Continue to pray for these teens and state of world we are in. Do I love the world, no. But I love the people in it, and that includes pregnant teens. So, continue to pray for the world we are in and those in it.
