Ok. I am a scary movie freak! I love to be scared and be pushed past my imagination. Part of this comes from my dad m
aking me watch the original House on Haunted Hill. At the end of the night, there were no tears or fears. It was understood that it was fake and now was time for bed.
Well tonight I watched Shutter. In it, and I hope I don't ruin the story, but there is a newly-wed couple that sees a spirit in all of their pictures. The storyline is trying to figure out why she is there, and there a a few different explanations. In the end, it's related to actions one of the main charectors displayed on the spirit when she was alive. So as the story goes, she haunted them.
At the end of the story it's revealed that all along she has been hanging onto him...literally. She was holding on his back. Keeping this secret, not to mention the deplorable behavior, caused him to carry her weight forever. One thing to mention s he never apologized. He never confessed that he messed up. And it drove him crazy.
How much we are like that!! How many times do we just prefer to sweep our mistakes under the rug? Does it make you feel better? Never! It sits on your back, weighs you down, causes pain, drives you nuts, and can lead to spiritual death. So what do we do? Well...
1 john 1:9 - If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from unrighteousness
For many reasons it seems great that we don't live in a scary movie: flies don't come out our mouths, creepy ex boyfriends don't show up in the background of pictures and clowns don't crawl out of gutters. But, if we are caught in a situation where a ghost is weighing on us and sitting on our backs, if we confess our sins, he is faithful to take our load for us.
What ghost is hanging onto you??
